Typical Linux user. Blame Windows. 

Did it cross your mind that bootable CD linux distros may be fine because the 
CD uses a different IDE cable / connection ? Of course not. Why search for a 
real answer when you can just blame Windows. It's politically correct, and 
requires zero intelligence. 

Now, please defend your honor as a linux user / windows hater by telling me 
that on your system, the CD and HD use the same cable / connection.
