Without a request to do so, I have replied by e-mail as well as in the
newsgroup. Note that I am a (mostly) happy SpamCop user, not an
official.
You have provided exactly the wrong information here: we would need the
headers to do much good and you have attached only the body, which does
not belong in this newsgroup and which carries no useful information. In
addition, you posted HTML here - against the rules, but not a serious
problem.
Now on to the information we can provide.
The first law of spamming is: Spammers lie. One way they do that is to
forge the From address; they have many more ways, which is why we use
SpamCop to assist us in finding the culprits.
In this case, the spammer has attempted to evade some filters which
block spam by recognizing phony addresses. If the spam gets to the To
address, that address has to be valid, so they use the same thing in the
>From field. In your case, only mail addressed to you will have your
address as the "sender". Some people are less fortunate: spammers have
chosen to pick on them by using their addresses in hundreds or thousands
of spams.
SpamCop can help you in two ways as described at http://www.spamcop.net/
. If you send the spam with the header information, the program will
track down the offender to the extent possible and notify the involved
ISP(s) for them to act. In some cases, that will cause the account to be
terminated, an open relay to be closed or other action to be taken to
curtail spam - eventually. SpamCop also offers a for-fee service to
separate mail likely to be spam from the rest, to hold that for you to
dispose of while forwarding the rest to you at your preferred account.
