Web bugs can contain encrypted data.

Spam marketeers might not have your email addy in a Web bug's URL, but they
might use a contact ID to reference you. In turn, in a Web bug, the contact
ID can be encrypted, for example.

So, yes, there is a way of receiving spam that contains encryption. Most
people cannot see it and most people wouldn't understand the encrypted
contents even if they could read the source.

Solution: Disable graphics display in your Web browser.
