Regarding the "Billings Bandits," I have e-mailed both TV stations that
Carol suggested. I mentioned the possibility of a story educating their
viewers about UCE and how to fight it. No nibbles yet.
As to some of the claims in the spam for "Cyber Investigator's
Assistant," I faxed a copy of the printout (full headers) to the Fraud
Hotline at the Office of the Inspector General, Social Security
Administration. Another fax went to a contact at Maine State Police, who
will forward it to his contact at the National Crime Information Center. I
kinda doubt that Spammy has any more access to criminal history info than I
do when I'm off duty, but somebody at NCIC may take a second look at it.
The MSP guy and I agreed that even if it's a BS claim, it's kinda like
someone trying to sell baking soda as cocaine.
Yesterday afternoon, I faxed a copy of the most recent spam about "LEGAL
CABLE TV DE-SCRAMBLER" to the Office of Cable Signal Theft, National Cable
Television Association in Washington, DC. They can refer it to the FCC
and/or FBI. If someone has already adopted this mutt
("cable26122"), I didn't mean to step on your toes. :)
More fun ways to show Spammy that his message stinks as bad as his means
of delivering it.
Oh, yeah: where can I get an application for Die, Spammy, Die? :D
