My guess is that they're directly sucking them off our news server. There
are several machines that routinely download all the messages or at least
all the new messages every day. It's hard for me to know if this is just a
user who sets up his newsreader to download full bodies of all messages or
if it's the Google super-sucker archiving all our postings. There's no
machine called super-sucker.google.com that's reading the messages, for
instance. And no machine that seems to be a close IP address to their web
server. But it's hard to tell if it's the same group doing the archiving or
not. Google appears to have been archiving since last August, although we're
just now finding out about this.

I've asked them these questions and a couple others. We'll see if they
answer. I really doubt that they're getting the feed from WebTV, although I
suppose that's possible.

We could always just block their access to our server. I don't yet know if
that would be a Good Thing. I need to hear from upper management first. What
do you guys think?

I realize all these postings haven't really been secret, but they've at
least been private. Kind of like talking amongst the guys in the locker room
at the health club. Now the locker room is televised. Some of you .social
people need to wonder what your spouses will think if they read all the
postings in there. :-)
