Yes, but the problem is that there's currently no way for users who
_don't_ want that to get the acks.
Worse, autoacks for (off the top of my head) UUNet and Genuity - and
I'm sure many others - contain a ticket number or equivalent, so that
those of us who _do_ want to follow up on problems _can't_, because
_we_never_get_the_ticket_number_.
This is one feature that very definitely qualifies as a very bad
misfeature (see the jargon file).
