Stupid? I don't think so... more like crazy like a fox. I suspect there
are many happy spammers working pool side drinking a Mai Tai while the rest
of us sit in traffic on the way to our desk jockey jobs.
Much as conspiracy theorists like to think spammers aren't in business to
aggravate us. They are business people in the purist form of capitalism in
that they are in it JUST for the money (I doubt they do it for fame,
prestige, or to make their parents proud). When legislation, or filtering,
or an educated marketplace, or whatever take the profit out of spam you will
quickly see them find something else to do.
I wish spammers would particpate in these groups... I'd love to hear what
it's like from their perepsctive such as "yeah i got shut down and moved ISP
eight times yesterday" or "man my 800 bill was high" or even "I don't even
bother with AT&T or Earthlink addresses since they installed Brightmail"!
