The following was sent from our security department. I have purposely munged the
names of individuals and my company's name. I realize this may be off-topic,
especially since it does not represent spam, per se. But, it may be of interest
to people associated with companies...

A fast-growing scam involving unsolicited business directory publications
or listings has victimized several of <company> offices and departments.

Calls are typically being made to <company> business units or offices
claiming that they purchased a "business listing or business directory."
Some of the calls indicate that <company> is in the second year of a
two-year agreement to entice payment. Invoices are received with or without
an accompanying directory or CD and typically are in the $200 to $400
range.

Aggressive follow-up calls are often made demanding payment. If you have
received calls, unwanted directories or CDs and/or invoices from the
following known businesses or others, contact x or x in Corporate Security.

Corporate Security is working with appropriate law enforcement officials as
this appears to be a nationwide scam, which is not necessarily limited to
the names on this list:
