I got a similar result: I opened a new Hotmail account with my name
and a number (month/day of my birthdate). It was instantly spammed big
time! It _must_ have been used and abandoned by someone previously.
When I use names that are less likely to have been previously used,
such as invented word/number strings, I don't get spammed since no one
is likely to have previously used that same email address. What works
well for me is namenumbername at hotmail.com, such cuspid0606cp.
