[SpamCop-List] Spam Scam via customer-contact.net

In another message thread, I mentioned receiving spam at a sneakemail
address that I had used exclusively to register H&R Block tax
software. The spam I received referenced a totally unrelated vendor
Century Photo Products. Customer-contact.net seems to be the source
with the usual mob of CW.net, cyberlinks, webunited, and some other
pitiful excuse for a business whose name escapes me.

A google search reveals the same pattern with this
customer-contact.net that mainstream/mainsleaze businesses have
employed. These now-mainsleaze business include Loews, Pep Boys,
Rodale Books, Auto-Nation, Harris Publishing, AT&T, and the Church of
Scientology.

>From what I can figure, customer-contact.net must be affiliated with
those marketing companies that have been trying to match email
addresses with customer lists that do not include email addresses.
Even though it was contrary to my indicated preferences, H&R Block
released my name and mailing and email addresses to some unnamed
marketing company. Century Photo Products (a company with which I
have done business but NEVER provided them an email address) released
my name and mailing address to that same unnamed marketing company.
The unnamed marketing company probably matched my name and mailing
address from both H&R Block and Century Photo, and applied my email
address to the info that Century Photo provided.

I have also contacted the consumer reporter at a local TV/radio
station for their advice on this breech of privacy. Who would trust a
tax preperation company who violated their customer's indicated
privacy preferences? Who knows, maybe 60 Minutes might want to do a
story on this spam marketeering racket?
