Brian seems to have had a little trouble getting this message posted, so
I'm reposting it for him. He'd like to keep his email address off the
boards for obvious reasons.
I seem to be having a bit of trouble posting too! This was supposed to
have gone up yesterday, but I don't see it. Sorry in advance if it
turns out to be a duplicate.

Hi All,
Just wanted everyone in the Forum to know that we at Cyveillance take
your feedback very seriously. I also want you to know that we are
excited to be actively supporting your efforts to combat spam email. We
share your concern with the issues of privacy and unsolicited commercial
email. At Cyveillance, we have been at the forefront of exposing
malicious Internet tactics, and have published groundbreaking studies on
issues like Web bugs and overly aggressive marketing tactics. We also
work closely with leading companies around the world to help fight
customer fraud and abuses that are perpetrated in spam email and other
online environments. As you may have read on our website, many of
Cyveillance's clients are corporations whose brand names and products
are used in spam without their knowledge. Cyveillance collects spam in
order to report abuses to the victimized companies so that they can take
action against the spammers and protect their customers. Any email
shared with Cyveillance will help raise awareness of this pressing
consumer issue and harness corporate resources to combat abuse.
In terms of the other concerns expressed in this Forum relating to how
Cyveillance gathers information from the Internet, we set the highest
standards for our online activities. We have removed any cookies from
our site, we do not collect personal information from any visitors
without their authorization, and we take great pains to ensure that our
crawlers minimize the load on other sites' servers. With regards to our
Prospect Locator solution referenced in an earlier post, the information
gathered with our technology is used for the purpose of establishing B2B
licensing relationships, which is typically done via the phone. We are
very careful not to inadvertently use our technology in any way that
could contribute the same activities that we are fighting to deter.
Thanks again for the feedback and for your joint efforts to help us in
our common goal of combating fraud and abuse on the Internet.
Brian Murray
Vice President of Client Services
Cyveillance, Inc.
