I agree with the others it was probably guessed or matched with a username 
dictionary.  But, sometimes I wonder...  I used to have a secret address  
with eight characters.  Nary a peep from spammers for over a year until I 
switched the address to another ISP.  The diploma spammer had it within 6 
hours.  For a while, there was just one little blipvert about every month 
or so, and then the deluge started. I've rotated shield frequencies, but I 
have a special place in my heart for diploma spam now- it jumps to the 
front of the que for reporting!  :-)
