Got some spam asking for my input on a "Birthday list". It was sent to a
business address, so I immediately reported it. Got this reply soon
aftewards. Anybody else get this?
Hi,
We received a report claiming we are a source of spam. BirthdayAlarm.com
sends birthday email reminders to our members. Part of our service is our
members can email their friends on our website asking for their birthday -
your email address was entered by a member who claims to know you and wanted
to know your birthday. If you did not know the sender of this email then it
is possible that your email address was entered incorrectly, only the one
email is sent and we do not add your email address to any mailing lists.
If you would prefer not to receive emails from any members via our service
then please reply to this email with your email address so that we can add
it to our block list. We can only block the emails originating from our
website, and not emails that may be sent from someone's own email client
about BirthdayAlarm.
Our company is very anti-spam and we are looking to take further measures to
prevent anyone from abusing our service. As a company we have taken a stance
against pop-up advertising due to the annoyance this causes to our members.
We have over 10 million registered members and respond to all questions even
though our service is free.
Please do not hesitate to get back to me with any questions you may have.
Kindest regards
Xochi.
