What do you mean exactly? That it's not the vendor (Sullivan Tire) who
is responsible for the spam? Maybe a Joe job? My thought was that they
had purchased one of those address-email matching lists and the
services to use it to send people who may have been customers. spam.

On the other hand, I have never been given any idea that they were
ever interested in collecting email address. They didn't express any
interest in it less than a year ago, and I doubt anyone at the counter
asked me for an email address 4+ years ago.  You offer food for
thought.
