It's not always very easy to search up an old something if you don't
already have a feeling or recollection of where it is; whether in the
newsgroups or otherwise.
One tool to use is to advanced google the web. In advanced google you
would specify the site 'spamcop.net' and then something clever in the
phrase or all words or whatever. That will get you hits on the pipermail
archives of the mailing list which reflects the newsgroups, or on the
forums part.
Sometimes it is useful to use gmane, but that is kinda tricky and
sometimes slow. gmane reflects the newsgroups themselves, which gmane
has archived as the http version of the groups. It also puts them on its
newsserver, but that would be silly, unless the retention were better. I
haven't checked that.
You could also download a ton of newsmessages and then try to use your
newsreader to look for something.
