I *didn't*  hand out my email address, and as far as I can recall the
company has never asked me for one. The email was sent to an email
address I have not even given to anyone, not even friends, for 4
years. It's only active because 1.) It's my ISP account, and 2.) it's
a great spam trap that I use to keep SpamCop well fed.

Well, usually those people truly just are ignorant about how spammers
get their addresses. I don't really see fit to fault them any.
Unfortunately, most of the internet using public are not very computer
savvy. It would behoove them to educate themselves, but I'm not very
optimistic. Sometimes they just remain stupid after you try and try to
educate them (my own mother being a case in point). But you're not
replying to one of those people.
