Okay. I think I'm beginning to understand. The problem wasn't the lack
of cite/quote marks in the reply function of your newsreader. I
misunderstood what I was seeing in your replies. I saw a non-attributed
non-quoted pasting of my earlier remarks. But now I understand that you
were pasting that in, above the attributed and quoted part.

So, the problem was the way you were using the function of your
newsreader.

The proper strategy for replying is to use trimmed and contextualized
replies by hitting 'reply' first, then starting at the top of the
resultant new post and trimming away everything which you aren't
replying to, and putting your remarks just under what you /are/ replying
to, and then trimming away everything else to the end and then putting
your sig at the bottom.. Like I'm doing here with your name's
attribution and quote.

There is no need to leave all of that old stuff at the bottom of your
reply. Very often almost everything can be trimmed away. Notice that I
trimmed everything away from your previous post and just left the part
to which I'm replying.
