Of course, I'm of the belief that mail servers should reject *any* 
delivery attempt to a non-existant user with a 55X error.

Sadly, many (*cough* Microsoft *cough*) mail servers don't allow this 
easily(*).  Instead, they generate a new message and send it to the 
address on the From: line.

(*) I know that Exchange 5.5 CANNOT do this.  Does anybody have 
experience with Exchange 2000+?  Can they reject an unknown recipient 
during the SMTP dialog?
