Most of the time, however, it isn't a handicap. It's plain laziness.
I pointed out the horrible grammar and spelling of some people on a French
language Linux-related mailing list I belong to a while back, and while I
did receive some support off-list, most of the reactions were basically
"Who gives a shit? We're here to discuss Linux, not to please the
'Académie Française'".
Good spelling and grammar are not rocket science at all for the major part
of society. Errors such as "your" instead of "you're", or "there" instead
of "they're" or "their" are not made by people who *THINK* about what
they're writing. Nor are mistakes like "I should/could of done that".
Of course, having said that, my own posting is going to be stuffed full of
mistakes I didn't see :)
