Yes you are right, that is what I meant...
"Well, caching proxies lighten the load on servers"
I hate going *through* proxies.
"adzapping at your ISP lightens load on your browser and your connection."
This is what Etags were designed for.

So I'm saying that I just don't like going through a proxy, that's just a 
personal preference, and it's my understanding that Etags help lighten the 
load by sending your browser a 304 from the proxy.

Paul's actually starting to sound like a salesman.
