I'm willing to alienate users whose browsers aren't standards compliant
when I am coding to be universally readable. But it's obscene to just
go out of your way to code

Does your PDA have an 800x600 screen? How about your mobile? You can't
count on your users having any particular screen size, and there is no
safe minimum. Screens aren't just getting larger, they're getting
smaller. People aren't just reading sites on their computers.

Linux. You can find a worse OS, but it costs more.
