I don't disagree with a word of your last post, but IMHO you are more 
likely to get people to report spam (which a cluebie can learn if 
motivated) than try to get around a newspaper site's registration (which 
requires considerable tech saavy these days).

IOW, don't hold your breath waiting for the rules to change.
