(Note: I don't use OE or IE, so these are general questions, not
specific to OE/IE.)

How, exactly, do you reply?

I know that my reader has "reply" which will go to the newsgroup,
and "reply all" which will go to the newsgroup _plus_ e-mail the
"from" address.

If you are using a method that will also e-mail the "from" address,
then I might expect what you are seeing when the "from" is not valid.
