This is a good solution, but requires spending $$$ on ZoneAlarm. 
(Unless I'm mistaken, the free version of ZoneAlarm doesn't have enough 
control over the firewall to able to do this).

For a free (but less useful) solution, tell OE to view messages in plain 
text.  It won't fetch images, but also will not render simple HTML, so 
some messages will become garbled.

A more functional free solution is to switch from OE to Mozilla (or 
Thunderbird).  It can be configured to render HTML but not fetch images.
