Well, sorry to follow up to myself, but I must...

I realized that what this probably was was someone wanting to harass me 
by creating a bogus account and using my email address (it's highly 
unlikely that this was a typo, due to the nature of the address).

The problem is that MySpace doesn't confirm that the email address 
entered at registration is actually owned by the person registering... 
like so many websites.

This leaves them wide open as a tool for abuse.

So, I went to the site, entered the spammed email address, asked to be 
sent the password, and deleted the account.

Funny thing is... MySpace somehow has the technology and will to send 
out an email requiring that you confirm the deletion of the account... 
even though they can't seem to do that to prevent abuse.

Can you say... "greeeeeeed?"

Anyway, they provided a "reason" field on the cancellation page, so I 
gave 'em what for.
