newsreaders should reformat, to undo what bad newsreader formatting has
been done, and many do.

No.  I agree with your premise that OE users should use QF to prevent
its bad formatting problems.

Correct.  See above 'because so many newsreaders format badly, ideally
newsreaders should reformat to undo what bad newsreader formatting has
done'.  In the case of OE, it is necessary to use a 3rd party addon to
do that reformatting as well as prevent the bad formatting in the first
place.  In the case of other newsreaders, the reformatting is built-in.

In the case of Tbird mozilla, the bad formatting behavior seen in OE
doesn't appear to be much of a problem, but the reformatting of bad
formatting isn't done as well as other 'reformatting' newsreaders or as
well as QF's reformatting.
