I beg to differ, although I used to think that myself.  I
once got a real e-mail from someone I know with a
subject that was encoded possibly as a result of
passing through a few strangely configured corporate
gateways (sendmail to Exchange and back vaguely
comes to mind.)  Ever since, I've had to check the
rest of the message.  (Although I do notice that most
of these encoded subject lines also have forged
real names in the To: line next to my address.)
