In Eudora and OE. because, say my wife and I in different locations need to
access the same mail account I set the MUA's to "leave mail on the server"
sometimes ,and we manually dispose of the mail from the server either by
deleting it from trash, or other means.
What I have found with both of these MUA's (probably all) is that if I have
POP'ed the mail from the server, that when it is POP'ed later from the other
location, It appears as marked as "read", even thouth on the other MUA the
mail has not been seen before. So, something happens to the mail stored on
the POPserver when it is POPed. I suspect that between changing computers
and mail configuration that your normal flow resulting in disposal of the
mail items from the server has been interrupted (you mention 2 different
computers) and you are probably retrieving previously POPed items frothe
server, and today and yesterday happened to be big days for Pimp&Dump spams.
