I'm disadvantaged in having to use my imagination for Mozilla
contrasting it to what I know about OE.

I'm currently having to go with John's idea or theory that something
might interfere with the bolding function. If Mozilla doesn't have an
'ancillary' gizmo like OE's envelope icon to help with the determination
of assessing read vs unread; that is, if Mozilla doesn't have an
OE-like unread icon - or- if the 'significant' non-bolded condition
'obscures' any other unread signals from Mozilla so that the other
signal isn't noticed - then that leads to Trish 'misinterpreting'
whether Mozilla thinks it is read or not. That is, Mozilla thinks it is
unread, but Trish misinterprets Mozilla's read-unread status because the
header isn't bolded.

However, or rather contrarily, I've /never/ seen a mail item in OE in
which something like a spam caused a problem with the header bolding --
so that theory has no experience for /me/ to consider it very much. It
would have to be a bug peculiar to Mozilla.
