Generally when useful information has been posted into the forum, *just*
a link to the forum has been provided in the ng, not copying and pasting
in the same way the other transmission takes place from newsgroup to
forum.

In fact, whereas I consider it 'common practice' to paste a link
accompanied by the 'essence' of what is at the link, in the case of
forum links, many times in the past*just* the link is pasted -- as if to
say, here's the link, if you want to know anything about what it sez,
you can go read it in the forum. That has improved somewhat recently.

Actually, it wouldn't be all that hard to have a newsgroup specifically
for a faq and it wouldn't be all that hard for a periodic post to that
ng to contain links to webpage or a forumpage with more links form
there.

Who's bashing? Not I said the cat.

I frequently read forum entries, but I don't post there.

That is because that is the choice of those participants and the powers
that be.

I think the contributions from the unofficial forum participants is no
greater and no less than the contributions from the unofficial
newsgroups participants.

Fine. Here I am.
