Ok, but if that was a problem (not that big problem, let me say), I
don't see how closing the spamcop.mail and spampcop.help newsgroups
can be the solution.
Someone would call that "throwing the baby away with the bath water"

Sorry, but I didn't read that in JT's announcement. 

He just said 
| For those who prefer to use NNTP or email, the spamcop, spamcop.geeks,

He didn't say he's going to monitor any of those groups. 
At least, that wasn't clear. 

Even if that was the case, I don't see the gain in mixing email system
topics, other help requests and general Spamcop issues in one big
mingle-mangle.
