Which is part of the problem with an unmoderated ng. The web forum
will be moderated and social comments moved to the Lounge.
In support of JT, the web forum is a solution to those technically
non-fluent people who want to ask questions and found the ng difficult
to use and were put off by the "geeky" replies and chatter. Many
newbies may stick around in the web forum and answer questions just as
they have here so it doesn't matter if those who like ng's don't go
there as long as a few knowledgable ones do in the beginning.
For those who like the ng's, there is still spamcop and .social and
.geeks for discussion and questions. And newcomers who start out in
the web forum may be directed to the ng's for discussion and "geeky"
type problems (like the thread that has been going forever in spamcop
about one spammer web site).
If .help regulars start populating spamcop, it will, perhaps, change
the character of spamcop so that those who like .help better will like
spamcop, too. The one thing that won't be posted is "Please be
polite" ;)
And I agree with the other poster (in maybe another thread) that a web
forum is easier for non-technically fluent people to use. It took me
umpteen tries to figure out the ng, but I have managed to get
questions answered on other web forums with a minimum of confusion on
my part. Now that I know how to use a ng, it is easier and more fun,
but when I wanted to ask a question and didn't know how, it was a
PITA.
IMHO, it is an improvement (especially since it got rid of the web
box). It doesn't appear to me that the other ng's are going away -
even eventually. So there is really nothing to gripe at JT for.
