Government is always a balance between law and order and security, and
personal freedoms and privacy. Depending on where you stand, you would
still value all of them, but at different levels. Traffic lights take
away freedoms to drive through any intersection when every you want, but
most people give up this right for their and other's safety. Law and
order can be a good thing, but it can also be abused. Where does
monitoring parking lots to promote safely become abusive and intrusive? Is
there a point where some laws should be passed and enforced despite what
the majority thinks (the Civil Rights movement of the 60s) for everybody's
good? How do you juggle all those different things?
