Military forces are bound under a different code of conduct and rules 
(laws?) -- the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Many of the laws that apply in the civilian world simply do not apply, 
or are modified by the UCMJ. Penalties for the same crime differ 
significantly from the civilian and military courts.
