The USB 2.0 specification defines a new High-speed transfer rate of 480 
Mb/sec

IDE is 100 or 133 Mb/sec

Of course, that defines the interface. The actual drives ain't gonna be 
anywhere near that fast anyway (probably somewhere about 10 - 20 given the 
age of the drives), so the interface is irrelevant in this application.
