I think it is due to the fact that the eastcoast get its gasoline from oil 
refineries around the Alabama/Lousiana area. (There is a pipeline that goes 
from there and heads WAY up to the northeast.) In CA, we have our own 
refineries here.. however, that fact has not put much of a damper on the 
prices here.
