I wish I could say the same.  It's a periodic problem in my area that
occasionally makes the local news, usually because the school
seriously stepped out of bounds.

A school in my area (Northeastern Pennsylvania) suspended a student a
few years ago for refusing to recite the pledge.  He did stand
silently.  They soon retracted the punishment when advised by many,
including their own counsel, that they would be unlikely to prevail.

camera to say that he didn't care what rights his students had.
