While many of the laws in this country overlap with some of the Ten
Commandments (for example, murder being illegal), I'd hardly call our
laws "based on the Ten Commandments".  In fact, the so-called "blue
laws" ("thou shalt not open your stores on Sunday") have been declared
unconstitutional, AFAIK.  At least they're not on the books in this
area anymore.

I also don't recall any laws against coveting, nor requiring you to
honor your father and mother.

That's not to say the writers of our Constitution weren't believers in
the Ten Commandments.  They just made sure not to include religious
references in the Constitution
